There are so many things to do and enjoy. Below are selection for you to consider visiting during your holiday.
Colvend
Golf Club
If you play golf, excellent! 18 hole course
offering a challenging round. You may want to consider hiring buggy as some
holes are quite a hike!. For non golfers,
you can still enjoy a drink and a bar meal and savor the beautiful scenery.
Only 2.5 miles from Kirkfield
RSPB Mersehead Nature Reserve
You don't have to be a birdwatcher to enjoy the peace of the Mersehead reserve.
There's an excellent circular walk through the reserve and along the beach and
across the meadows back to the reserve.
Forestry
Commission
There are many beautiful walks in the forests
that are situated very close to Kirkfield. Dalbeattie forest has graded
walks to suit all abilities, and for the more energetic, mountain bikers
will discover some of the finest trails in Scotland. We've actually seen red
squirrels in Dalbeattie forest so the signs don't lie!
Dalbeattie
is the nearest town and
has a good selection of shops
including a chemist, doctors, dentist and library and several small
supermarkets. The town itself is built of local granite and is well worth a
visit. The Dalbeattie website will also show other things and places of
interest.

Stanes Mountain bikers will probably need no introduction to
the rigors and challenges that the 7 Stanes Routes present. But what
exactly are the 7 Stanes?
